ARRM AGM 2025

Wednesday 4th June 2025 at 10:15 - 15:00

Our 2025 AGM saw outgoing Chair Simon Turner look back over the past seven years since he took on the role in 2018, including the transition from AIRSO to ARRM, and new Chair Saul Jeavons discuss his ambitions for ARRM going forward. Our six amazing speakers sparked some great debates across a broad range of road risk challenges. It was a great networking event with both members and speakers making valuable new contacts during the day. Thank you to everyone who attended, all our speakers, and everyone who helped arrange the event.

Diabetes and road safety – the hidden epidemic

Kate Walker
Chief Executive, Diabetes Safety

Type 2 diabetes is becoming a crisis for road safety. Prevalence is extremely high and increasing rapidly with consequences for road safety that include hypo episodes, visual impairment as well as other risks that are largely unknown and unmanaged. For instance, diabetes directly causes 770 strokes and 590 heart attacks per week: this is a major road safety risk.

Kate and her team at Diabetes Safety Organisation operate in the construction and transport sectors to raise awareness of the increasing health and safety risks of diabetes. Kate shared some of the findings from recent research conducted in partnership with the Road Haulage Association demonstrating the enormous scale of the problem, the potential consequences for employers and their management of road risk, and how to start getting a handle on managing diabetes in your driving workforce and supporting your drivers.

Why accurate incident reporting is essential to improve fleet safety

Renee Rogers
Founder and Chief Executive, Ono

Slow or inaccurate incident reporting is a massive problem for fleets. It can have a significant financial impact on the business and also negate any opportunities to learn from the incident and remove any systemic or business practice issues that could have contributed.

After 10 years in the bridal industry, dealing with dreamy rails of girly sparkle, Renee somehow transitioned to an operational role within the transport industry! Having grown a fleet from 44 vehicles to 500 through the acquisition of electric vehicles and wheelchair accessible transportation, Renee is now actively revolutionising the way in which fleets manage their vehicle accidents.
