Mark Trimmer (Secretary)

Mark served in the Police for 31 years starting in the Royal Military Police in 1981 when he was posted to Berlin (The wall was still up!). On returning to Britain , he joined Devon and Cornwall Police in 1985 before moving to Sussex in 1987.

Mark spent over 10 years working in Roads Policing starting as a PC and finishing as Chief Inspector. He is a qualified Senior Road Death Investigator and headed investigations into fatal collisions involving police vehicles. Following a fatal collision in which 5 young people died, mark was involved in a review of, and changes to, the police driver training programme in Sussex.

Mark retired from the force in 2012 as a District Commander and became involved in Crime and Disorder reduction partnerships with local authorities.

Mark worked for the Institute of Advanced motorists as regional manager for 3 years working with the public and voluntary sector. In 2015 he joined Sussex Safer Roads Partnership as Operational Manager, responsible for camera enforcement and educational work, supporting council and fire services. In 2019 joined the Highways England Driving for Better Business team as a Programme Development Manager.

Mark is a keen road cyclist who enjoys going up mountains as much as coming down them and also coaches rugby and cricket.
